Study Confirms that Those Who Follow High Carb and Low Fat Diets are Among Healthiest People
If you’ve been under the impression that you need to cut carbs from your diet in order to lose weight or improve your health, think again! A recent study published in BMJ and reported on in a recent article by PureWow concluded that those who consumed a high amount of carbs and a low amount of fats had better overall heart heath and mortality rates. The study, conducted over a 15 year span by the National Center for Global Health and Medicine in Tokyo, regulated the health of over 15,000 people in Japan and compared diets of those who followed the country’s recommended dietary guidelines to those who did not.
While we’re excited that science is proving the benefits of carbs, we can’t say that we’re fully surprised as carbs provide essential health benefits, like sustaining energy, controlling impulses to overeat, and providing key nutrients like potassium and magnesium.
